See General Information to Get Started....
We have switched from FTP to FTPES.
This will result in our Logins and Passwords no longer being transmitted over the network in plain text and sniffed by hackers who then log into your faculty and student accounts and modify your files. (The data files will NOT be encrypted, as that may slow down file transfers, especially for students will show connections. Only the Logins and Passwords will be encrypted, so in the future, continue telling your students NOT to put personal information on the web server.)
This change is minor and will require very little from you.
You will need a "ftp client" to do your file transfers. Note: A "browser" is not a "ftp client" so IE or Firefox will NOT work. Also, Dreamweaver does not support FTPES.
The ftp client we are recommending is Filezilla. It is FREE and it works very well.
On your home computers (PC) simply download the client and install it. Mac users can also do this, but the latest version of Fetch supports FTPES.
Here is the address for Filezilla: http://filezilla-project.org/

There is a big grey box that says Download Filezilla Client. You want the CLIENT, not the Server. Click on CLIENT and choose Filezilla 3.2.6.1 or whatever is the latest version. Install it.
You may have used Filezilla in Richland classrooms or the lab. It is the ftp client we will be using. (The old version of WSFTP will be removed from our machines.)
One you have it installed, logging on is very simple.
In the HOST box type: ftpes://ftp.mmlab2.rlc.dcccd.edu

Type your login and password as usual. Click Quickconnect.
You will be asked to accept a certificate. Accept it.
You should see the Remote Site files on the right pane. From the LOCAL pane, browse to find your local site files.

That's it.
Actually, the only extra you have to type is the "ftpes://" in front of the ftp.mmlab2.rlc.dcccd.edu ( ftps://ftp.mmlab2.rlc.dcccd.edu/ ) that is our ftp address.
In summary, download and install Filezilla. In the Host box type ftpes://ftp.mmlab2.rlc.dcccd.edu , your login and password and click Quickconnect. Accept the certificate.
FTP Instructions Using Fetch for Mac Users
1) For the host, type ftp.mmlab2.rlc.dcccd.edu
2) In the dropdown box, choose FTP with TLS/SSL

3) Type in your assigned User ID and Password
4) Once you click on OK you should see this window

5) Once you have this window you can drag and drop your folders
and files into the correct unit folder.
6) Every web site should have a home INDEX.html file outside
of the 4 unit folders

This is the correct way your files and folders should appear. See how there is only one Index.html file on the root directory. This is your main home page.Make sure your index.html doesn't have any spaces in front; if it is not spelled correctly your site will not display the contents of this page.
This is how the Generic index page is set up: all 4 units project/assignments are listed.

7) The Index.html is the page that has all the links to your projects and assignments which are stored inside each corresponding unit folder.
See how each unit folder holds all the component images that are related the each project.
