9/2/09 Today we messed with Alice and animated her to do diffrent functions and actions
9/16/09  Created a fan dancer in a Dojo type setting prefrom a short and easy preformance on Alice
9/23/09  Today I learned about how games are designed and published. And the phases of production the games go through to be published games. I also learned how to expand on the one room, making it two rooms with a hallway connecting it and with staires.
9/30/09   Today the class was devided into 3 groups. I was placed in group 3, where we discussed how games are localized to countries, cultures, and languages. In class I also learened how to makec customized turrets using the Hammer Editor.
10/5/09  This is the turrent I made using the Arc tool. By making the arc to curve the way i wish it too, I then broke the group it creates apart, This allows me to individualy resize each peice of the wall. Then I simply lowered each peice like a set of stairs, this gave the turret its distint look and various cover points it naturally provides.
10/7/09  Today in class I learned about textures and lighting in a map. The less lighitng a room has, the darker it can appear due to obects casting shadows from the light. The more lighting in the room the brighter it will be, but it also takes a longer time to load. Another point about lighitng is when an object is closer to the light, the more washed out the texture becomes. I also learned about dynamic lighting is in that it can make a textures in a room come to life, but too much dynamic light will cuase the game to run slow and use alot of processing power.
1014/09  Today the Teacher Professor gave the class an assignment to make our own map using the Hammer Editor. I also learned the maps lay out are symmetrically layed out and are designed to look like mazes. The picture is the cat walk I made in class. I also learned about Game Design Document(GDD) and Technical Design Document (TDD). The GDD contains the layout of the game, genre, and the games unque selling points, more or less the marketing and artistical documentations. The TDD contians the a list of the programs used to make the game, and patches, More or less the technical aspects.
10/16/09  My Map. Designed solely by myself and constructed as well. The room is not fully textured and really needs a interior touchup. However, it is playable and the player is able to manuver through every nook and turn that i have created.
10/28/09  We started to make a game with Game Maker, a free game engine that allows you to create a vast variety of games. The game in the picture is calle Evil Clutch. The game is simple, catch the baby drgons, avoind the demons by dodgeing them or destryoing them with a fireball.
11/11/09  We created a patformer game on Game Maker. Basicaly its just a never ending map, used for concept and understanding. Bascially to get an idea of the style the game is, think of the old "Super Mario Bros." or "Megaman"
11/18/09   We furtherd out creation on the platformer game, the levelnow includes mushrooms that are designed to be you "picup" items tht gives you points. We also created monsters that can cill you our you can kill them. Lastly, we created a "deadth" block, its purpose is simlaler if you fell through a hole by missing a jump in "super mario bros." My level however has spikes that you land on.
