What is Fair Use for Multimedia?

Fair Use for Multimedia is the concept that you may use another person's multimedia work within your own work, given that you follow a set of guidelines. These guidelines are not the "law", however they are standards supported by a consortium of authors, educators, attornies and others who might be affected by such practice. The main concept behind theses guidelines is that you should use the smallest percentage of another's multimedia work to meet your purposes, and by no means for profit.

What guidelines should students follow when conducting Internet research?

You may also include them in your portfolio or otherwise for the purposes of aqcuiring employment or higher education. For any non-educational purposes you must seek permission from the original author of copyrighted works which you would like to use. When using copyrighted work, a good rule of thumb is to use no more than 10% of any one copyrighted piece.
