A Thousand Years of Corn

I was looking at your old, abandoned game play. The enemy had decimated your defenses. At the entrance, an alien swarm killed your archers, enemy tanks were rolling in, and soldiers hid in the bushes. They succeeded in destroying your talisman.

Then an old man dressed in a robe appeared and told me to find the talisman pieces and a riddle in a dialect that I could not understand. Not sure what to do next, I found boxes of meat and fed your farm animals. However, the economy was dying and many homes were empty. All there was left to eat was corn.
